Thresher Base relies solely on donations to fund the annual memorial services. All of the labor required for the planning, preparation and execution of the annual USS Thresher memorial services is conducted by Thresher Base Submarine Veterans and their spouses who each year volunteer their time. Our recurring costs include the invitation printing & mailing, program printing, roses, facility rental, custodial staff, bag-piper, trumpeter and the live Internet broadcast crew & associated audio/video equipment rental. On the 5 year increment memorial services, we add a post service reception.

Another option to consider was started in 2016 by the family of the late Barbara F. Currier, wife of Paul Chevalier Currier,  Ship Progressman Machinist, Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. In Barbara's obituary, the family asked that in lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara's honor be used for the funding of the Annual USS Thresher Memorial Services.
